Wednesday Wedding Feature - Online Wedding Invitations

There are many people who don’t like the big hub-bub of weddings. For those types of people, sending out online wedding invitations could be a great idea. There are many different styles, but I really liked this one from American Greetings. I thought the colors fit perfect with the tiffany blue wedding themes.

Online Wedding Invitations - American Greetings

Personally, I can't imagine not loving or having the big production of a wedding, but that's just me. Even so, those who have a big wedding could still use online wedding invitations. They are a great way to send follow-ups to those who did not send in their RSVP's.

Thanksgiving Wedding Theme

In honor of Thanksgiving, I thought that I would write about a Thanksgiving wedding theme. Not many people think about what a great time of year Thanksgiving is to have a wedding. You get to take advantage of family, lower costs, colors and design.

Convenience

Now depending on who you are planning to invite to your wedding, you could actually have your wedding date be Thanksgiving. If you are planning a small, intimate, family wedding then having it on Thanksgiving is a great way to show everyone how thankful you are for them and how much it means to you that both sides of the family are sharing this special holiday together. If you are a family that has many of its members scattered far and wide, this creates the perfect opportunity for them to make one trip for both the Thanksgiving holiday and your wedding. Now, if you want a bigger wedding with family and friends, choosing the weekend before or after Thanksgiving could be a great option.

Cost

Most of the time, local reception sites and other vendors lower their costs because it is getting into the slower season of the wedding industry. This is the perfect opportunity for you to take advantage and either save a little bit of money or add-on that ice bar, chocolate fountain and champagne toast.

Design

The best part of a Thanksgiving wedding? The colors and design. This may just be me - because I love the colors of a Thanksgiving wedding theme - but the orange, brown and yellow just seem so warm and cozy to me.

BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE

As much as I like these colors and time of year, this is one of those wedding themes that a bride can tend to go overboard on. Take the image above for example; I think this is way too much orange. Either pick a more neutral or contrasting linen color and use the centerpiece, or flip-flop it and have the orange linens with a more subtle centerpiece.

Rest assure with the magic word, "moderation" anyone can pull off a beautiful Thanksgiving wedding theme. Here are a few pictures of weddings that used the colors and themes of a Thanksgiving wedding theme in moderation and produced beautiful results.

Crazy Wedding Cake Photos

So today has been a long day and I really needed a pick-me-up, so I decided to search around Webshots for some crazy wedding cake pictures that others on this blog might enjoy. I started coming across a few rather "interesting" wedding cakes. Here are a few below:

I would definitely like to give a compliment to the baker that made this cake; not necessarily on the design, but just the time it probably took to put all of those little pieces on this cake. Thank goodness it is only 4 tiers!

Crazy Colorful Wedding Cake

Holy colors of the rainbow! I am sure this takes a lot of work, but it almost looks fake. And even though this cake kind of hurts my eyes, it does put a smile on my face thinking back to my childhood. I think I may have made something pretty similar with my Play Doh!

This wedding cake is from the same baker as the wedding cake above. I think it is safe to say that he/she is a bit excessive. It is either that or the brides are. What... brides excessive...? No way! :-)

So I have have been at many wedding where the wedding cake has some form of sparklers or candles, but this looks like it is about to take off from the cart. Be sure you are fully aware of what is going on with your cake and get a demonstration beforehand if need be. Yes, everyone loves to "Ooo" and "Ahh" at pretty lights that sparkle, but this is just screaming 911.

This cake made me do a double take to make sure they were really saying this was a wedding cake and not a jumbled mess that some kindergartner put together. However, after I stared at it for 10 minutes I saw that it really isn't cake at all, but honey glazed, sticky doughnuts. I would love to see someone try and cut into this wedding cake.

So I saved this cake for last because it is my favorite. Now much like the one above, this actually isn't a cake at all. They call it a smash cake. I think that this a very cute idea. It seems that the shell of the cake is made out of chocolate and the inside is filled with M&M's. This would be a great added feature to your wedding if you were having a lot of children. Think about what a kick they would get out of watching the bride and groom smash this cake with a mallet and them being able to collect the candy inside. Almost like a sophisticated pata!

Hope some of these gave you a laugh, a "what the heck were they thinking?" or possibly a few good ideas!

Have you seen any crazy wedding cake pictures?

Wednesday Wedding Feature - Wedding CD/DVD Label

For today's Wedding Wednesday Feature, I have chosen a wedding CD/DVD label. Here are a few ways that you can use this printable option for your wedding.

Favors - Many wedding couples go back and forth as to what they are going to give away as favors at their wedding. I will say that I am not a huge fan of potpourri or flowery smelling candles. I think as the wedding couple you want to give something that is not only reflective of you and your new spouse, but also something that guests can use. So why not a burned CD with the wedding couple's favorite songs and a personalized wedding CD label? It is something that is personal, but more importantly it is something that might just be spared from the trash. (Where some wedding favors go to die.)

Your Wedding Video - There are always those who contemplate whether or not to get a videographer. Now this is a very important topic, but it will have to wait for another post. However, a great way to dress up your wedding DVD is with a wedding DVD label. Personalize it with your names and wedding date. Get a clear but secure case for it, and display it for everyone to see!

New Wedding Dress Styles

There are many different wedding dress styles out there. I swear every time I go into the bridal shops I see another wedding dress style I didn't know existed.

On the one hand...

You are thinking, "This is great!" It means you have a greater chance at getting a wedding dress or style that few others have. This can be very important to a bride. As women, I am sure we all remember the time spent picking out prom dresses and knowing the only thing that could ruin your night was if you showed up at prom and another girl was wearing the same exact dress. The same goes for your wedding dress. Now I highly doubt anyone would show up at your wedding in a wedding dress, but you still get that same feeling if you know someone that got the same dress, or if you see four other brides in the bridal shop trying on YOUR wedding dress. So rest assured that the wonderful world of wedding dress designers are feverishly working to create new and edgy wedding dress trends every day.

On the other hand...

You may be looking at an even larger pile of wedding dresses.
And let me tell you, wedding dress shopping can go from super exciting to a chore when you have tried on your 100th dress.
However, after awhile, a long while, I started realizing what types of wedding dress style looked good on me. When this happens it is a great feeling. Where once you were looking at a pile of 50 wedding dresses, you are now only looking at 25 because you know which type of wedding dress styles don't work for you. So in my case this was great, but now imagine they have come out with even more choices!

Here are a few of the newest wedding dress styles. Check out TheKnot for more!

Top 5 Tent Wedding Expenses

I am currently planning a wedding for a bride that wants to have a tent wedding ceremony and reception. Many people dream about having a lovely tent wedding and think it will be cheaper; however a lot of people forget to take into account all of the items that are needed to have one.

Here are few items that can rob your wedding budget:

  1. Tent – One of the biggest expenses of a tent wedding. There are a lot of different options to choose from, so knowing what type of wedding you are having will help you decide what type of tent you want. To get a more formal look, add a flowing tent liner or fabric from the tent ceiling. Be prepared to spend between $1,500 and $2,000 for a 150 guest wedding.
  2. Tent Extras – Do you want walls on your tent? If so keep in mind those cost extra. Do you want the poles to be in plain sight? If not ,make sure you don't forget to add pole covers to your wedding tent order.
  3. Tables – You need to order not only the 8-top tables for the guests, but also the tables for the head table, buffet/serving stations, cake table and gift table.
  4. Chairs – These can get pricey because they are one of the few items that you need to rent for every single person. Now on average, nice folding chairs cost $3; however be prepared to spend a minimum of $8 for chiavari chairs.
  5. Flooring – Again, another hefty price tag item. There are 2 options for flooring. You can either only rent flooring for the dance floor or you can rent flooring for the entire tent wedding. Now there are some wedding themes where having the grass around is a perfect complement, but if you are having a formal affair or a decent amount of elderly people, a tent floor might be the way to go.
Check back later for more posts on planning a tent wedding.

Wednesday Wedding Feature - Wedding Save the Date Cards

Here is today’s Wedding Wednesday Feature – Wedding Save the Date Cards

PhotoWorks Wedding Save the Date Card

This wedding save the date card is from PhotoWorks and comes from the Symphony wedding card line that they carry on site. I like that you can include a photo. I think that photo save the dates are a great way to make the cards more personalized. Plus you get to put your smiling, happy mug on one more thing. I mean come on, you made your fiancé take all of those cheesy engagement pictures for something!

I love wedding save the date cards. Some feel that they are a waste of time and money, but I like them. I think they set the tone and ensure everyone who is important to you will be there. Check back next week when I talk about the Top 3 Reasons to send out Wedding Save the Dates!

Tiffany Blue Wedding Themes

Over the last 2 years the Tiffany Blue wedding theme has emerged to be one of the top requests from brides. Though I love the colors of Tiffany Blue and white together, it seems to be getting old and feel suppressing a brides personality. So what I have been suggesting to brides is if they love the Tiffany Blue (robins egg blue) wedding theme that much try and change it up a bit by adding other complimenting colors. Here are a few suggestions:

Tiffany Blue & Brown Wedding Theme
Much like the Tiffany Blue wedding theme, brown has become another hot color choice for brides. Try adding brown in subtly like adding a brown ribbon to favor boxes, flower girl dresses or unity candles.

Tiffany Blue & Red Wedding Theme
Make your wedding theme stand out by adding a vibrant color like red. Most people don't think that this would make such a beautiful color combination, but I think that you will soon see this becoming one of the more popular wedding themes over the next year or two. So scoop it up fast and be one of those brides that cracks into the new up and coming wedding theme.

For those that are a bit afraid of what this wedding theme may look like, turn to an inspiration board. I create wedding theme and inspiration boards for my clients and it gives me the opportunity to help others see a vision. For those that are hesitant, it really allows you to open your mind to some eye catching color schemes.

Here are a few other pictures from weddings that had a Tiffany Blue and red wedding theme that I like.

I also just found these candy favors and I love them! They incorporate the two colors of the wedding theme and they look so fun.

Tiffany Blue & Pink Wedding Theme
If brown and red are too bold of colors for your wedding theme, try a Tiffany Blue and pink wedding theme. Adding pink can be a great way to incorporate another color and it gives you a tone of room to play with. The easiest way to incorporate pink into the wedding theme is in the flowers. Here are a few pictures pink flowers and Tiffany Blue.

If you want to take a little bit more of a chance, try hot pink. I think this color is fun and would be great way to spice up your wedding theme without having to take a big color risk. See the wedding theme inspiration board below.

Do you have any other suggestions on what other colors could be added to the Tiffany Blue wedding theme? Send me or post suggestions and I will write a post on it. Also, feel free to send your pictures and I will feature them on the blog.

Wednesday Wedding Feature - Wedding Ecards

Hello again. Just thought I would let everyone know that there will be a new section of the Wedding Woo blog. Wednesday Wedding Feature will give me a chance to review, highlight and give my opinion on wedding gifts , wedding favors, wedding cards and many more wedding products every Wednesday.

Today I have found a really sweet wedding ecard. I just had to bring this one up first because I thought it would be a great way for me to tell you more about myself and for you to get to know me. So, I chose this wedding ecard because it made my eyes well up a bit. Yes, I am that girl. I am the one that is crying during holiday commercials, catching my breathe in the back of the movie theater (my husband even had to switch rows during Pearl Harbor) and of course the one with the pack of tissues at a wedding. So this wedding card does it for me, maybe you too.

New and Improved Wedding Blog!

Wedding Photo

Welcome to the new and improved Wedding Blog!

To preface my introduction, let me begin with a quote from my husband in response to a recently engaged man, “You're lucky. Most guys only have to go through the wedding stuff once. I live in a house where engagements, planning and D-Day happen year-round!”

All I can say is…so true! Through the ribbon, tulle, flowers and tons of bridal magazines, you will find me in my glory designing and planning weddings, and here writing about what I love, weddings. My name is Jessica (wedding photo left) and I will be the new wedding blog writer here at Wedding Woo.

I consider myself a jack of all wedding trades, and writing for a wedding blog gives me the perfect opportunity to share wedding stories, ideas, reviews, tips and tricks, photos and much more with those that love weddings as much as I do. So feel free to comment and/or send an email with questions, feedback, ideas or anything else you would like to share.
